Chicago-based real estate investor Richard Kaplan has more than four decades of experience completing transactions in property markets throughout the United States. Richard Kaplan began his career buying and selling real estate in the Chicago area. To date, he has completed more than $3 billion in property transactions. In 1986, he founded his present company, Syndicated Equities. Before that, he established and led Kaplan & Associates Realtors, a real estate firm that served thousands of clients from 1972 until its sale in 1986.
Mr. Kaplan currently serves as CEO of Syndicated Equities. Under his leadership, the company has purchased more than $1 billion in property assets for its investors. Over the years, Syndicated Equities has invested in a wide variety of property types, ranging from retail stores and government facilities to hospitality real estate and office and parking complexes. Mr. Kaplan also created and now oversees the Syndicated Access Funds, a series of property opportunity fund-of-funds.
He earned a degree from the University of Illinois before beginning his career. He maintains an active presence within the regional community by serving on the board of Standard Club of Chicago and by supporting other local institutions, including the Chicago Sinai Congregation and the former Children’s Memorial Hospital.
